Volunteer Positions

The Ottawa Ostomy Support Group is looking to fill a couple of open positions on our board. We are looking for engaged, reliable candidates who are interested in a volunteer position. The positions we have open are for a Vice President and for a Treasurer.

Vice President (Volunteer)

  • Will be responsible for looking after banking deposits, payment of expenses, and bank reconciliations. Familiarly with Quicken would be great, but not essential.
  • Prepare monthly statements for the board as well as an annual trial balance.
  • Prepare tax receipts for donations and memberships
  • Submit HST rebates yearly
  • Submit CRA forms and Ontario Corporate Forms at the end of the group’s fiscal year
  • Forward onto Ostomy Canada the membership list and any money collected on behalf of OCS from our members.
  • Prepare a budget and reports for the AGM
  • Contact and invoice advertisers for the payment of ads in our newsletter.
  • Familiarity with keeping accounting records for a not for profit ideal
  • Time commitment: around 7-10 hours each month.  You can choose to be on the board or not but should attend the monthly board meeting.

Note:  the current treasurer is willing to train and assist you as required.
